I certainly never expected to have a "before" and "after" picture showing a new and improved version of myself! I’ve always been a rather sedentary creature – preferring air-conditioned comfort and a good book to muggy gyms and workout regimens! That former lifestyle, plus two wonderful children and a husband who can really cook, made for, shall we say, a rather "well-padded" entry into my thirties. But long hours at work and increased stress made me look for something other than the next Pepsi to cope – I realized I needed physical exertion to effectively deal with growing levels of anxiety and sleep disturbances.

So, two years ago, I started playing soccer. I know you may be shocked – but hey, I’ve always been an overachiever. A friend invited me and I said "Why not?" What a surprise when I discovered all these extra saddlebags attached to me – it certainly was a lot harder to run around than I recalled!

In those days, my goal was to just make it to the gym or soccer field. I would meet up with friends and try to blend in with their routines. I lost some weight – but the real gains were internal. I was able to sleep better and became more effective at the office – even pursuing a career cross-training program to push my talents in a different direction.

Recently, I realized that my gym time was consistent but not well-organized. I needed a plan – a program. After all, if I’ve made the commitment to exercise, I might as well maximize my gains! That’s when I started working with Marjie. It’s only been a few months, but I’m amazed at the results! After discussing my goals, she laid out a detailed plan that encompasses diet, weight lifting, aerobics and sleep. We’ve modified the approach as I’ve progressed – keeping me interested and also matching my improved strength and endurance. And what improvements! I’ve gone from 165 to145 pounds and am much stronger than ever before. I’ve dropped 2 dress sizes and have more energy than I can remember in a long time!
