More Motivational Tips for Exercise In the last few weeks I have given you many ways to help you stick to your exercise routine. Here are a few more tips. Relieving boredom Lets face it, even the best training programs can become tiresome and boring at times.
Boredom can slowly kill your motivation, interfering with your training
consistency, so prepare for this situation ahead of time.
How do you stave off becoming stale in your workouts? One way is to be sure to change your routine at least every few weeks.
Doing the same exercises with the same weights, same number of repetitions and sets is very dull and predictable. Try substituting
new exercises for old ones, or simply alternate between different training routines. By keeping your body guessing, you will
achieve greater results both mentally and physically. Another great way to help you alleviate boredom is to listen to music as you train.
Music is uplifting and will help keep you moving, can you imagine an aerobics class without it? If your gym does not have music,
bring your own! Having a training partner Having someone to work out with can be extremely helpful.
There will be days when you will not feel like driving to the gym, or are just looking for an excuse to miss a
workout. On those days, your training partner can be invaluable. Training partners provide continuing support,
motivation and accountability to one another. If possible, try to find someone who shares your interests and fitness goals. Be patient We live in a fast-paced society of quick fixes and "instant" everything. Begin your fitness
program with realistic expectations about how long it may take you to get into shape. Doing too much too soon is the quickest
way to burnout, leading to poor results and possible injuries. Start off slowly, with light weights, concentrating on exercise
form and technique. Know your limitations and pace yourself accordingly, the extra pounds and inches will take care of themselves. Don't be too hard on yourself To avoid overtraining, allow yourself a break from your usual
fitness routine once in a while. Hard work deserves its rewards, so occasionally be sure to treat yourself. This can be
as simple as going out to buy a new outfit to celebrate your weight loss success to just plain taking a day off to relax
by the pool. I have yet to meet a person who has never skipped a single workout, or who eats perfectly 100% of the time.
The overall cumulative effect of long-term training will see you through an occasional missed day of exercise, so there is
no reason to feel guilty if you "play hooky" once in a while. Focus on the positive Successful people are positive thinkers. To help keep you motivated,
remember the many benefits of a well-rounded exercise program. A few examples are: Increased metabolism,
noticeable improvement in cardio-respiratory function, reduction of body fat, greater strength and stamina, significant
stress relief, increased bone density, less likelihood of injury, improved self-confidence and greater sense of well-being.
Having a healthy, fit body is well worth the few hours a week you will spend exercising. So think positively and enjoy your fitness routine!
